Daisy chaining DMX is great, but it has its limits, especially if you find yourself regularly reconfiguring your lights. Sometimes you need to split the same DMX signal in multiple directions, and sometimes you need to switch controllers or use multiple controllers at once. That's when you need a Chauvet DJ Data Stream 8.
More than a simple splitter
The Data Stream 8 is a flexible 2-in/8-out DMX splitter that can revolutionize the way you set up and reconfigure your lighting rig. In addition to taking up only half the space as a pair of Data Stream 4s, the Data Stream 8 offers a number of configuration options that make it particularly useful. For starters, you can instantly switch between sending one or the other input to all eight outputs via a master switch. That's super useful if you frequently go between a front-of-house and a back-of-house DMX controller.
In addition to master A/B assignments, there's also a middle "manual" setting. This setting defers to a series of individual switches that let you assign each of the Data Stream 8's outputs to either the A or B input. That lets you establish more complex routings to accommodate sophisticated dual-controller setups, such as when you want to use a board for your main lights and a foot pedal for a second set of fixtures. All told, the added flexibility the front-panel-mounted assignment switches offer make the Chauvet Data Stream 8 a perfect tool for your advanced DMX lighting system.
